What is Taekwondo?
Literal meaning: Tae = Foot Kwon = Fist Do = Art of
Taekwondo is the art of protecting oneself using the fist and foot as main weapons. The Taekwondo practitioner tries to kick as high as they can, while being as light on their feet. The style of Taekwondo practised at KMA is World Taekwondo Federation; teaches: Kicking, Punching & Striking, Self-defence, Patterns, Throws and Break falls, Competition and Street Fighting, One Step Sparring, Knife and Club Defence, Weapons, Breaking, etc.
Taekwondo originated in Korea, the style that we learn at KMA, is based in South Korea. Master King currently holds the rank of 6th Dan Black Belt (kukkiwon). Master King commenced his Taekwondo career in 1984 and started teaching in 1988. Master King has competed in all levels of competition from local to international, in sparring (full contact fighting), Gyokpa (Board Breaking), Poomse (formwork/patterns). He has received numerous awards and experience from these competitions and is looking forward to coaching you to the same level.
